DJ LaVida

At a tender age of 20, Cristina Orozco better known as ‘DJ LaVida’ has already dazzled the musical palates of any discerning crowd in the Sydney clubbing scene. Recognized for crafting a banging set of house music wherever she goes, DJ LaVida is certainly known for being one of Sydney’s best-loved female DJs.

It all started just over a four years ago, when DJ LaVida was placed in the Top 5 at the first ‘Your Shot’ DJ competition at North Sydney’s Greenwood Hotel.

This young musical gun’s prowess behind the decks was soon acknowledged, resulting in her first role as resident DJ at The Moulin Rouge in Kings Cross, Coogee Beach Palace, Sapphire Lounge, and now currently residing at Sydney's most iconic venue, The Argyle at the Rocks as well as The Club and Epping's most favorite Wednesday night at ‘Tracks’.
Her DJ pedigree also includes igniting the dance floors at The Taste of Sydney Festival 2012, Castro’s Nightclub in Wollongong, The Eastern, Goldfish Bar, The Ivy, The Bank Nightclub, Lady Lux, Home Nightclub, Club 202, Club One6nine, and Envy’s U18s at the Central Coast.

Whether it’s the smooth blends of deep, soulful, beach house music or the feet tapping nu, funky, tribal latin and rhythmic disco music, to the enthralling beats of electro, big room and even hip hop - DJ LaVida’s flexibility to spin various genres and ability to pull together banging performances has earned her recognition and respect as a female DJ in the competitive industry – more recently she was named in the She Can DJ 2011 Top 30 female DJs shortlist across Australia and New Zealand.

DJ LaVida’s talent does not end there; she too has dug her heels in successfully organizing and launching Argyle's newest and most successful monthly club night, 'Release Yourself' and last years ‘Pink House’ charity event for the National Breast Cancer Foundation at The Goldfish Bar. A lucrative success for a great cause, the event showcased some of Sydney’s best female DJs.

With a recently achieved diploma in film and television production, she is also currently producing a documentary about gender empowerment, which provides an enthralling insight into the world of rising female DJs within a male dominated industry.

Not afraid to push her boundaries and determined to become successful, DJ LaVida hopes to achieve an equal recognition and respect for all female DJs out there. She wishes to produce original music, work the beats with influential DJs and play for festivals that Australia has to offer, many times over.

“Whatever the gender, same passions are chased and same desires to become a legendary DJ is our dream.”
